Popping back in here to say hello! No need to explain my absence. If you read my blog, you know I am a bad blogger. I have a love/hate relationship with the internet. Sometimes I just need to break away!
Speaking of breaking away, my husband and I went away this weekend for our anniversary, and stayed at a snuggy little Bed and Breakfast. It was a gorgeous old home, and while the front was added in 1927, the original house was from 1820, with low ceilings and thick walls and windowsills, and lots of nooks and crannies. Totally my cup of tea.
They also have Alpacas, which were a hoot. If we ever get a place with more land, they may be worth considering. They're so comical, with their messy mop of wool/ hair. AND you can felt their wool. hmmm...
Since I'm lucky enough to be married to a guy who shares my nerdy obsessions, we spent the afternoon at the Mercer museum, where Henry Mercer amassed a collection of 30,000 objects representing daily life before the Industrial Revolution. Then he built a 6 story concrete castle to house them, which is fascinating in and of itself.
There was ALOT to look at. I have a billion pictures on my camera, mainly of objects that I thought to myself "oh, I should start a collection of THOSE!"
I'm thinking shoe forms, sewing shears, butter molds, butter paddles, candy molds, haircombs, the list goes on. I need to amass my own enormous collection, so my mother can come over and say "how do you DUST all of that?"
Thanks for sharing your getaway~ love the alpaca pic especially. BTW I think the term is 'infrequent' you're a great blogger!!

it's always a happy surprise to see you about, and i have come to terms with (most days!) the fact that *you* blog when *you* want to (or when you *can*, which is how it usually works for me!). i had not heard of the mercer collections before. the first two photos have me swooning! amazing. thumbs up to you two for having some time away. :)

I'm so happy you two got some time away to yourselves. You always find these neat places to go, too!

Thanks Cathy, it was GREAT to get away, if only for a day and a half!
And as far as blogging, it should feel fun! When I feel like its a chore, I know I have to just back off for awhile.
