So excited to have gotten another creation made by my great-grandmother, Frieda. It's so simple and sweet...I know just the spot I'll hang it. I do love getting these treasures. I like to think that my girls, and their children's children will cherish the things that I make. I hope so!
Wow- that's a fantastic treasure! I love things passed down through the generations! That is so neat that you and your daughters will get to see that hanging each day and remember her.
I have a necklace that my great-grandmother made and every time I wear it I think of her. I don't know about passing it down though- I only have sons, and they won't want to wear it! ;)

OMG - that is incredibly gorgeous and what a very special piece to own! I absolutely love it! You are so fortunate to have such a piece from your grandmother!
And your children will definitely cherish all the things you make, even the little things you didn't think were so special - they will love as well!

Connecticut is the Mountain Laurel. They are all in the woods around here.
Thanks for showing this beautiful piece of embroidery.

What a great and very special gift! How lovely. :) I feel like I need to make something like this for a future grand-daughter who would be just as thrilled as you are about getting to keep something like this. Lucky you! :)

This is so wonderful! Is this from an embroidery transfer or a pattern that your great-grandmother made? Either way it's a treasure!I am in the process of making a 50 states quilt tinted with crayon and embroidered in the form of postcards/stamps.
